Course Aims To ensure that the candidates have enough knowledge to preserve life and treat life threatening and painful conditions/illnesses in adults, children, and babies To know when to call for help and what needs recording. The laws governing the care of children and babies. Comprehensive notes are provided on completion of the course.This course is interactive and includes significant practical content. Upon successful completion of the course a certificate of Paediatric First Aid will be awarded. Course Content Definition of first aid Your roles and responsibilities as a first aider Basic life support for adult, child, and baby Recovery position and how to monitor an injured casualty adult child and baby How to call for help How to maintain your own and others safety whilst doing first aid Recognition and treatment of asphyxia and hypoxia Asthma Anaphylaxis Choking in adult, child, and baby Croup and febrile convulsions External and internal recognition and treatment of a bleed Burns how to treat and when hospital is needed Poisoning how to treat and what to do when waiting for the ambulance Fractures and dislocations what not to do Heart conditions recognition and how to help Head injuries recognition and how to treat Heat imbalance recognise and how to treat Diabetes how to help Sickle cell syndrome Epilepsy what you should and should not do to keep the casualty safe Stroke how to recognise and what you can do How to maintain an accident book and what, when and who to report to Your responsibilities in maintaining the first aid box and it's contents Course Duration: 2 days Competency is achieved by continual assessment throughout the day.
